4 Frequently Asked Questions about Permanent Makeup
At Nicole Mansur Artistry we’re answering these questions and more for our clients every day! Here are the four most frequently asked questions we get at NMA.
Can I get Permanent Makeup while pregnant or breastfeeding?
There has been little medical research on the effects tattoo pigment for pregnant women. For this reason we do not take pregnant women as clients until after they have finished breast feeding. Although it is commonly thought amongst the permanent makeup community that the risk is low, without more research on the effects of tattoo pigment for pregnant women and nursing mothers, our policy is it is best to wait.
Does Permanent Makeup last forever?
You’ll often see the services in this industry referred to as both permanent and semi-permanent. Both are actually true and we’ll explain why.
Permanent Makeup should firstly be considered permanent to a certain extent since for some it can take many, many years for the last remaining bit of color to fad away. Even though this can be true, it is often considered to be semi-permanent since the color does fade and requires periodic touch ups. Permanent Makeup is designed to fade on purpose since our faces, style and even our hair color will change over the years.
Typically our colors last 3-5 years.
Is Permanent Makeup the same as a body tattoo?
While Permanent Makeup is considered a tattoo there are many differences between what we do and a body tattoo. Body tattoos are designed to be as permanent as possible. Fully organic inks are used to create vibrant masterpieces. These inks are deeply saturated in to the skin for permanence.
Permanent Makeup is different in that we shy away from fully organic pigments, preferring more muted and natural colors. We also do not saturate as heavily or deeply as one would with body art.
This is done on our part on purpose. We do not want our pigments to last 30+ years. You may have noticed very aged body tattooing turning blue, grey, and blurring heavily. We would never want this happening on your face.
Will it hurt?
Unlike most body art tattooing, or even some other permanent makeup salons, we use numbing solutions and they are extremely effective. We apply these to the area to be treated to significantly reduce your discomfort. Clients may report a brushing or tickling sensation with little to no discomfort during and after the treatment. As always, we want your experience to be as enjoyable as possible and for you to leave feeling beautiful.
We encourage our client’s to ask questions. Your confidence and trust in us is what matters most.
We hope this has helped answer some of our most frequently asked questions for you. If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to call (949) 933-2583. We’d be happy to help you with any inquires you may have.
